Mycleanpc review, or should I say warning?
I saw the commercial on TV the other day so I thought I would take a look, it sounded to good to be true.
The first thing I did was load up a VM machine with XP service Pack 2 and went to the site to download the trial. I installed it and it found 350 or so things wrong with my fresh install that never saw the internet until going to mycleanpc. Granted being a pc technician I understood that most of the stuff it found was empty registry settings which is not a problem. The average person would look at the Warning! and most likely will believe it has found a major problem with the pc. Of course for a price, they can fix it for you even though there is nothing wrong. When I opted to cancel the option to buy/upgrade, I received several "are you sure" type popups urging me not to cancel, then presented with a chat window which of course was having a technical difficulty of some type from the products tech support for Cyberdefender products.
The below is a comment from another person, one of many I found. This one sums it up the best:
If you read any positive reviews on this site they were probably posted by employees of Cyberdefender.
All I have to say is Mycleanpc and Cyberdefender sure sound fishy to me. Per the recommendations of the many that have been burned by the product, Dont use It!
